In grocery stores in our country we realized a large range of products, among which is very popular refined deodorized sunflower oil. According to the standard, it comes in three varieties: «Premium», "Top Grade" and "First sort".

The quality of sunflower oil directly depends on the quality of sunflower seeds, conditions and terms of their storage before processing.

Poor quality raw materials, outdated storage and production lines, non-compliance with production processes are the reasons for obtaining low quality oil, which can be passed off as high quality.

Particular attention should be paid, what is data about sunflower oil, as product name, production date – can be falsified.

Currently, the most common type of falsification of sunflower oil, like in general vegetable oils, is its assortment falsification, characterized by the regrading of such oils or the substitution of one type of oil for another. for example, refined deodorized premium sunflower oil can be easily replaced with premium or first grade oil, and valuable types of oils, which include sunflower, olive, corn, camelina oil, are replaced by less valuable rapeseed, cottonseed and other oils.

The problem is, that refined oils, after a thorough refining process, lose their characteristic coloring and aromatic substances, becoming virtually impersonal, and it is virtually impossible to distinguish one type of oil from another without special equipment.

The Grodno Regional Inspectorate of the State Standard during the inspection established, that products: refined deodorized frozen sunflower oil of the highest grade "Kubanskaya Marka", manufacturer LLC "Kuban Product Company" Russian Federation, and sunflower oil refined deodorized frozen varieties "Premium" trademark "Soviet", manufacturer BAZIS Plus LLC, Russian Federation, actually does not match the declared varieties.

According to the results of testing samples of these oils, an excess of the "anisidine number" indicator was established (characterizes the freshness of vegetable oils) almost twice, which is a violation of the requirements of the technical regulations of the Customs Union, GUEST 1129-2013 "Sunflower oil. Specifications "and indicates the falsification of oil.

Based on this, products cannot be identified as, for which it is issued: name of food products, declared by the manufacturer in the marking, misleads the consumer, characterizes food products unreliably and does not allow identifying them by name, as the products are not refined deodorized sunflower oil of the highest grade and premium grade.
